Nostalgia: The Man, The Machine...

For all kids who grew up through the 80's, Sunday morning was TV time.
There were early morning cartoons, Mahabharat, then a sci-fi serial with Milind Soman in it, Cosmos with Stephen Hawking and at about 1pm, there was 'Street Hawk' and following that the Guinness Book of World Records.

There were kids of a certain age who were fans of 'Knight Rider', those who borrowed video tapes from the neighborhood lending library might even have been fans of the 'A-Team' but for kids like me, Street Hawk ruled.

So much so that the best part of the show for me was the starting titles. We got the Electronica theme music, a montage of short clips from the show set to music and the names of the actors. After that was the premise of the show - what it was about - spoken in a "trailer" voice.

20 years on, I still remember it...

This is Jesse Mach, an ex-motorcycle-cop injured in the line of duty (US pronunciation doody). Now a police troubleshooter, he's been recruited for a Top Secret Government mission - to ride "Street Hawk".
An all terrain attack motorcycle designed to fight urban crime; capable of incredible speeds upto 300 miles per hour... AND IMMENSE FIREPOWER!!!
Only one man, Federal Agent Norman Tuttle knows Jesse Mach's true identity.

The Man (mini drum-roll)
The Machine... (mini drum-roll)

STREET HAAAAWWK (engine revving sounds)

After several years of searching, I have finally found a clip of the starting titles and can proudly share my joy with you all.
Here it is then... in pure, unadulterated American 'trailer-voice' - STREET HAWK

p.s. The title music is soooooooo brilliant. Ha!
